FWF - Publication

 Finally done!

I've created my book and made my online publication through ISSUU. I know I said in the previous FWF - outfit sketch post that I would upload more pictures from shoots. But, with being in my final year, and stressing between project deadlines and exhibitions. I really didn't have a minute to spare :(

But its all now available to have a look at online.

The link is embedded on my blog, just under 'popular post' - Open Publication will direct you to the main publication or alternatively Click here

Printed copies are available, so do let me know if your interested, email me on fahiimaahmed@gmail.com

I really hope you enjoy looking through, and more importantly I hope you find it inspiring :)

Pinterest

So i finally joined Pinterest and OMG i am in love!

I dont know why i didn't sign up a long time ago! You know when your browsing through pictures on the net or in my case Instagram and you immediately screenshot an image you like? Well...
I have TONS of images which need organising! >.<

I really like the idea of creating different boards and collecting inspiring images.
As you can see from the image above, i've already started pinning! As a fashion and beauty photographer, i've started to collect images that i found inspiring towards upcoming projects.

Make-up creativity is a new project i will be working on, which i'm quite excited about!
I will post a mood-board of the images I have collected so far! Once i've placed the images on my phone onto Pinterest! :D

Feel free to follow me or just have a browse (:

Supra - MUSKA 001

As part of our 'Creative Industries' module we had to get involved with the Fujifilm Student Awards.

With daylight as my natural light source, I created the above images using fujifilm superia 400 (35mm) with a Nikon FM3A.

Feel free to give feedback :)

Twins are 2!

The twins finally turned two this week! :D
After the jungle theme for their first birthday they had the 'Up' theme this year. The pastel colours around the house as well as the decorations really brought the theme and party together. We had pass the parcel for the kids and mocktails for the adults and ton of gifts for Zak and Jasmine of course!

I think Missy (my aunty, their mommy) did a great job putting the party together, everyone had a blast! I hope they both have many more birthdays to come, with all years full of happiness and driving missy up the wall :P

Mima loves you both xxx

Outfit Sketch

I decided to illustrate the outfits for the upcoming shoot, to give me a rough idea of what they will look like. The theme for the shoot is casual street wear for my current project FWF.

The idea is to create various street looks from a very casual 'His is Hers' look, mixing it up in between with a 'His and hers', ending it with a casual female look. - if that makes any sense?!
At the moment I haven't decided on the style of the Khimar (headscarf), as this is something I normally decide on once the model has the outfit on. Lets hope the weather holds out for the weekend!

What do you think about the idea? Try guessing the colours!

Ps: I havent sketched for 3 years - kind of losing my touch :/
defo hope to get back to it after this poorly illustrated sketch Haaa.

FWF #1

I am currently working on a project called Fashion with Faith - The Khimar

The 'Khimar' is the given name for the headscarf worn by many female Muslims. It is also known as a Hijab, however the name Hijab also refers to the covering of the whole body besides your hands and face; many wear the Niqab (veil) to cover their face.

As a Muslim myself and growing up around people who wear the headscarf, I find that many girls and women struggle to play with the idea of western fashion when wearing the Khimar. Some suggest wearing western clothing is forbidden, and stick to the idea of wearing cultural clothing. However, personally i think there is a big difference between religion and culture.

This project aims to inspire girls and women of all ages with new concepts of modest fashion, combining the Khimar with contemporary trends in the fashion world.

I decided to put together a set of current and upcoming fashion trends that would be ideal for my project. After much planning and waiting hours on end for a bright day, I managed to get some shooting done! I have included an image from some of the trends I have worked with so far, to give you an example of the overall idea of my project.

Fashion with Faith - The Khimar (book) will be launched around April 2014.
